I was born 1957 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Here I grew up in a single room apartment together with my parents. I have one brother and one sister. My parents gave us a calm and safe childhood.
As young my aspirations where to become a PT teacher, I've always had the lust for sports and physical exercise. But when the time came to choose a profession I choose to become a nurse and later specialized in surgery. It's a fantastic profession that involves close and trustworthy interaction with people. I've worked both for the public and in the private sector and I've had union responsibilities. It comes natural that health-care is one of my dearest subjects.
Throughout my life I've always liked to take on new tasks and gain experiences. I've run a business and a dental practice and I participated in the start up of the Scandinavian Heart Center in Gothenburg. Thirty-five years old I decided to get involved in politics, the closing of a school and the continuously bad management of the Sahgrenska hospital where I worked being the key factors. Since 1998 I'm a full-time politician. I currently have a seat in the municipal assembly of Gothenburg as well as in the governing body of the Moderate Party and the EU regional committee.
I've always reacted strongly against unjustified bureaucracy and unfair treatment of people. Common sense and a sound attitude towards our fellowmen are the corner stones of my political work. For me it's very important to be close to my electorate. It's from them I receive advice, support and criticism and that's what encourages me.
During a few years I worked with tourism as a travel guide in Europe. Through this work combined with my curiosity I learnt about new countries, cultures and people. Through my political assignment in the EU regional committee and I've learnt how politics is practiced in Europe today.
My hometown of Gothenburg has been shaped by it's historically close ties with the rest of Europe and the world. The EU is today more important than ever for our prosperity. I want our relationship to the EU to develop and improve, but there are issues that the EU should stay away from and let the member countries handle individually. I hope for your support!
